Gallery Features Group Show of Cotton-themed Works

Sunset River Marketplace, the eclectic Calabash art gallery, is featuring a group show entitled, 99% Cotton, which depicts Carolina cotton fields in watercolor, oil and acrylic. Participating artists include Brenda Behr, Freeman Beard and Janet Dixon. The exhibition runs through Saturday, Jan. 28.

N.C. artist Behr works in both oil and watercolor. A signature member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina, she has been a featured artist in Our State magazine and in the book, “Painting In North Carolina.”

Also a signature member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina, Janet Dixon has been a finalist in competitions for both The Artist magazine and International Artists magazine. She was published in “How Did You Paint That?: 100 Ways to Paint People and Figures.” A native of Greensboro, she now lives in Greenville, N.C.

Watercolor artist Freeman Beard grew up in rural North Carolina and attended the Ringling School of Art and Design. He is a signature member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina and also belongs to the National Watercolor Society and the Durham Art Guild.

Sunset River Marketplace is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lassiter and her staff welcome visitors and invite you to enjoy complimentary gourmet coffee and tea as you stroll through the 10,000 square-foot space. Over 200 local and regional artists are represented here in virtually all art media.
