Sunset River Adds New Instructors, Classes

Sunset River Marketplace art gallery in Calabash, N.C. has added new instructors and classes to its fall roster, according to owner Ginny Lassiter.

“We’ve stepped it up this year,” Lassiter says. “Thanks to our electronic newsletter, our feedback from the community has been incredible. Folks are telling us what sort of instruction they’d like to see here.”

New class offerings from the eclectic art gallery include Beginning Oil with Rich Kuhn($80/four week class,starts Monday, Oct. 10); Beginning Watercolor with Jolyn Kuhn ($80/four-class, starts Wednesday, Oct. 12); Watercolor with Dorothy Herron ($60/four-week class, Fridays, ongoing, call to sign up); Children’s Pottery with Theresa Reiter ($90/six-week class, starts Oct. 1); Oil Painting for Children with Martha Radiloff($60/four-week class, starts Saturday, Oct. 8); Watercolor with Dorothy Herron; Drawing with Ruth Cox ($80/four-week class, starts Monday, Oct. 10); and Calligraphy with Marsha Thomas ($60/four-week class, starts Tuesday, Oct. 4).

Also on the calendar is Cork & Canvas on Monday Oct. 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Bring a favorite photo of friends of family. Oil painter Marie Casper will help you paint a masterpiece from it (beginners okay!). The atmosphere will be relaxed with afternoon wine, appetizers and canapés. All materials are included in the $60 fee.

Other popular classes at Sunset River include Journaling with local writer Marsha Tennant; Oil Painting with Elaine Bigelow; Pastels & Mixed Media with Jane Stazsak; Pottery with JaneTrousdale; and Pottery - Introducing the Wheel with Janet Archambault.
Since opening its doors in 2002, Sunset River Marketplace has become an integral part of the Calabash community and supporting literary and performing arts as well as visual arts.
