Sunset River Offers Wreath-Making Presentation

Sunset River Marketplace art gallery in Calabash, N.C. will present Creative Holiday Wreath-Making by Laurie Nelson at its next Creative Exchange event on Wednesday, Dec. 8 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nelson will demonstrate how to create holiday wreaths for the home by adding your own personal touch. Participants are requested to bring a grapevine wreath and other items from nature such as pine cones, greenery, lemons, limes, pomegranates, apples, berries, etc.

A native of Charlottesville, Va., Nelson has worked in the field of interior design/decorating for 18 years. Even as a youngster, the Jeffersonian architecture and interiors of her home state made an impression on her. According to the talented designer, her family was also a great influence. She often accompanied her grandmother on antique-buying trips. Her father, a faculty member at the University of Virginia, would design the family’s homes using materials saved from older, historic homes while her mother did freelance interior decorating and home furnishing.

Nelson studied at the School of Art at Virginia Commonwealth University and was a merchandiser for a major furniture line, working on individual residences and showcase homes to include layouts for popular style and design publications such as Southern Living and Southern Accents.
Her company, Harris and Nelson Designs, currently offers complete interior design services and furnishings from traditional to eclectic to residential customers in the coastal Carolinas. She says her designs run the gamut from coastal, city look, and shabby chic to West Indies. Contact Laurie for your interior and furnishings needs at 910-754-5955.
