Renowned Cookbook Author to Present Program Nov. 14
As part of its ongoing Creative Exchange series, Calabash, N.C. art gallery Sunset River Marketplace will present accomplished culinary teacher and writer Patricia Gambarelli on Wednesday, Nov. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. The author will demonstrate several select recipes, which the audience will be invited to sample. The cost for the event is $5. Due to limited space, reservations are required. Call the gallery at 910.575.5999.
The author of “Pasta For Men Only” and the recently released cookbook, “The Four Seasons of Gourmet Entertaining, With the World at Your Table,” Gambarelli’s experience is as varied as it is extensive. As Food and Wine Editor for the Brunswick Beacon in Shallotte, N.C., she wrote the weekly Let's Cook column for four years and wrote a monthly column for four years for Gold Coast Gazette in Glen Cove, N.Y. She also reviewed New York City and Long Island restaurants.
Gambarelli was a cooking school owner and instructor for 11 years and taught four-week sessions of classical Italian cuisine, including appetizers, meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, salad and dessert. She has conducted one-day workshops that included pasta/sauces, breads, and holiday desserts to private groups, corporate and individual classes. Guest instructors included Mary Beth Clark, owner of International School of Food and Wine in Bologna, Italy, and Markus Farbinger, former pastry chef at Le Cirque restaurant and pastry department head at Culinary Institute of America.
She also served as culinary director for Long Island Wine & Food Society, and assistant coordinator of special events where she created and conducted cooking workshops and wine classes. Gambarelli was on the faculty at Great Neck School of Continuing Education and was a guest chef/instructor at Macy’s Marketplace and A&S in Long Island, N.Y.
The multi-talented author is also the creator and coordinator of the Gourmet Group at Sea Trail Resort in Sunset Beach, N.C., now in its fifteenth year. “We have dined together, laughed together (and sometimes complained together), drank wine together, all the while having fun through the magic of food.”
‘The Four Seasons of Gourmet Entertaining” features 200 recipes that take the reader on a worldwide gastronomic tour throughout America, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Greece and Thailand. The book also includes an array of recipes for appetizers, main courses, desserts and party fare.
Gambarelli says, "This book offers fabulous, creative, recipes as well as suggestions for forming a reader’s own Gourmet or Dinner Club. The impressive variety of recipes also affords the reader opportunities to mix and match exceptional courses to create their own menus.”
