Arnsten to Discuss Mystery Novel Set In North Myrtle Beach - March 1

Calabash art gallery Sunset River Marketplace art gallery continues its Coffee With the Authors series on Thursday, March 1 with a presentation by Barbara Arnsten, author of “S.O.S.”

This novel follows the exploits of Peri Mason, a widow who vacations in North Myrtle Beach during S.O.S., the town’s annual shag dance event, and finds herself embroiled in a murder mystery right outside Fat Harold’s.

Born in Southport, N.C., Arnsten moved to Wilmington at the age of six. After attending New Hanover High School, she graduated college from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Arts. She spent two years in Europe before returning to the States to start a family and begin her career as a supervisor and training coordinator for a biomedical company in Durham, N.C.

Ten years later, she launched a new career in journalism, working as a reporter before going into public relations work.

“S.O.S.” is Arnsten’s debut novel, and she is currently working on the second mystery in the series.

The Coffee With the Authors event begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 11 a.m. There is no admission fee, but due to space limitations, reservations are required.
