CATHY MEYERSOHN
Born in Lenoir, North Carolina, Cathy has been making pottery for over 30 years.
She began taking pottery instruction in Weston, Connecticut in 1979 and joined the Silvermine Guild at New Canaan, Ct. shortly thereafter.
Following her move to Virginia in 1991, Cathy further developed her pottery skills at The Bowman Arts Center in Vienna, VA. and, after moving to Sunset Beach, NC in 1999, continued doing pottery at the Franklin Square Gallery in Southport, NC. Cathy has travelled to Europe and Japan on several occasions to visit pottery studios and study the techniques and skills of local potters.
Cathy has been at the Sunset River Marketplace since 2002, where she currently exhibits and sells her wares. Her pottery consists mainly of functional pieces such as vases, dishes, umbrella stands and bird houses, as well as unique decorative objects. Cathy utilizes both the potter's wheel and slab-building methods to accomplish her work. All her pieces of work are personally signed "Cathy" or "by Cathy's Hands".
