Catherine C. Church

Catherine C. Church is a native of North Carolina and current resident of Pinehurst. In addition, she owns a home at Sunset Beach and the beach and surrounding areas are where she gets her inspiration to paint the scenes depicting the life in and around Brunswick County. Her primary medium is oil but she often paints in acrylics and uses the pallet knife to get special effects with color. She has a studio space at the Artists League of the Sandhills in Aberdeen, North Carolina and her paintings can be seen there both in her studio and in the league’s Exchange Street Gallery. Catherine began painting seriously after retiring from a thirty year career in the field of education and has studied for the last four years with instructors from the Artists League. She earned an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and both masters and doctorate degrees in education from North Carolina State University in Raleigh.
